Find a Hotel

Screen reader and keyboard users may find these steps helpful to find a hotel on the Marriott web site.
 
Question: What are the steps to find a hotel room?
 
Solution: 

Starting from the home page, follow these steps.

  1. 1. Go to the first form control on the page – an edit box labeled "City or Airport Code". Keyboard users can navigate to the edit box using the Tab keys or use your browser’s Find feature. Screen reading software users can use hot keys to jump to the first form control on the page:
    • Select Find from the Edit menu or use the shortcut Control+f
    • Type in the word City and press Enter
    • You will be placed on the label for City or Airport Code. Down Arrow once to move to the edit box

  2. Fill in the form (press Tab and Shift+Tab to move between the form fields):
    • Type in the city or airport code (e.g., Chicago)
    • Select the state from the drop down list (Alt+Down Arrow to open the drop down list and then Down Arrow to the state or use the first letter of the state e.g., IL)
    • Select the country from the drop down list (Alt+Down Arrow to open the drop down list and then Down Arrow or use the first letter of the country e.g., U.S.A.)
    • Enter in your Check In Date (e.g., 06/05/2009)
    • Enter your Check Out Date (e.g., 06/08/2009)
    • Select the Number of Rooms you will need from the drop down list (Alt+Down Arrow to open the list and Down Arrow to select the number of rooms e.g., 1)
    • Select the Number of Guests/Room from the drop down list (Alt+Down Arrow to open the drop down list and then Down Arrow to select the number e.g., 2)
    • Enter your Marriott Rewards number if appropriate and then select any check boxes that apply. You can check and uncheck boxes using the Spacebar
    • Check any of the check boxes for the Marriott brand you want to search for or check the box for All Brands
    • Select the Find button by pressing Enter
  3. Keyboard users may skip to step 5. On the search results page, screen reader users should navigate to the first heading (level 1) which is the city name and number of hotels found.
  4. Skip past the map information and go to the level 2 heading for the first hotel in the list. Each hotel in the results is organized using a level 2 heading for the hotel name with level 3 headings for that particular hotel’s features and amenities.
  5. 5. To view a particular hotel, navigate to the hotel in the list and press Enter. This will direct you to a page that includes all of the information about that particular hotel and is more accessible.
  6. On the specific hotel web page, navigate to the hotel name (heading level 1). You can then use the Down Arrow key to learn about the hotel, its features and amenities.
  7. A list of links for more information about the hotel is located just before the heading level 1. This list of links includes:

    • Photo Tour
    • Guest Rooms in Detail
    • Deals at This Hotel
    • About This Hotel
    • Restaurants & Lounges
    • Visitor's Guide: CITY
    • Maps & Transportation
    • Plan Events & Meetings
    • Use Marriott Rewards Points
    • Printable Hotel Fact Sheet
